Selangor MCA protests against DAP-PAS link
Selangor MCA held a protest today against its DAP counterpart over DAP’s continued ties with PAS by being part of the Selangor state government.
Some 60 protesters demanded that Selangor DAP pressures Menteri Besar Azmin Ali to sack PAS members from the Selangor executive council, failing which DAP should quit the state government.
The Selangor MCA contingent began its protest about 11am, chanting “the wolves are are in collusion”, “DAP betrayed its principles”, “DAP sold out the Chinese” and “Dissolve DAP”.

The 30-minute protest took place outside the Selangor DAP headquarters in Petaling Jaya.
The protesters then held a press conference outside the headquarters, with Selangor MCA deputy organising secretary Leong Kok Wee criticising DAP, saying it has helped to strengthen PAS until PAS president Abdul Hadi Awang introduced his hudud motion.
Leong said that although DAP has announced it would cut ties with PAS after that, the party still continued to work with PAS in the Selangor government.
"They (PAS and DAP) still hold together. They did not cut ties, so I would like to remind the Chinese community that DAP is cheating them," Leong added.
Selangor MCA organising secretary Low Kim Mang called on DAP to apologise to the Chinese community for asking Chinese voters to vote for PAS in the past two general elections.
Asked about the relationship between Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak and Hadi, Low refused to respond, only saying that this question should be answered by MCA president Liow Tiong Lai.
"Today, we are acting accrording to the Selangpr MCA standpoint and any national question should be referred to the MCA president," he said.
DAP prepares a present
Selangor DAP left the gates to its compound wide open but none of the protesters approached the building.
Selangor DAP committee member Edry Faizal Eddy Yusof told reporters later that his party had prepared a “gift” for the protesters but had no chance to give it to them.
“Initially, we thought they will come in to submit a memorandum or something. So we left the door open. But they did not come in.
“We gave them a mirror the last time. We thought it was a bit too small, so we prepared a bigger one this time. But we had no chance to give it to them,” Edry said.
He said MCA should instead be worried about its own problems, since Umno now works closely with PAS.
"PAS and Umno now sit together and work hand-in-hand, so MCA should worry about that. We have already cut ties with PAS," Edry added.
Selangor MCA held a similar protest in April last year, but was faced with an awkward situation when the protesters had to “receive” a mirror as a gift and pose for press cameras.
