PAS deputy president Tuan Ibrahim Tuan Man rubbished claims of Umno-PAS co-operation by stressing that no seat negotiation will take place with the BN anchor party.

He said seat negotiation is the cornerstone of political co-operation.

"So it is impossible that PAS and Umno have a political cooperation and those claiming so are spreading slander," he said.

This comes after Umno and PAS top leaders stand shoulder-to-shoulder a rally for the Rohingyas in Kuala Lumpur today.

Tuan Ibrahim said this is the third rally for the community that PAS is part of, and Umno leaders are merely following PAS.

He said the same is true for the bill to amend the Syariah Courts (Criminal Jurisdiction) Act (Act 355).

The amending bill is now a private member's bill by PAS president Abdul Hadi Awang but Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak said the government will "take over" the bill.

"If PAS is not a competitor, then why is Umno trying to keep up with us?" he asked.

He said unlike other opposition party, PAS knows when to co-operate, when to apply pressure and when to protest against the government.

"PAS will continue to be a pioneer in making this mature approach a culture in our democracy," he said.

Talk of PAS-Umno co-operation surfaced again when Deputy Prime Minister Ahmad Zahid Hamidi helf a briefing for Muslim MPs on Hadi's bill.

Hadi's motion to seek leave to table the bill was read on Nov 24, the last day of the Parliament session for this year.

Hadi had sought that the elaboration for the motion be done in the next Dewan Rakyat sitting.

In his policy speech at the Umno annual general assembly last week, Najib said Nov 24 is a historic day as Umno with help from "PAS friends" paved the way for the motion to table the 355 Bill.
