What does the PM say about Gomez debacle?

I have been reading your many reports on Dr Edmund Terence Gomez and his 'forced' decision to quit in order to take up the a temporary research posting with the UN in Geneva. I have also read the letters from the many distinguished, qualified academics from all over speaking out for him - but practically none defending Universiti Malaya.
I have completed my education up to Form Five only and I have not heard about Gomez before this but to me, for a Malaysian to be appointed to a research position in the UN, he must be extremely capable and his appointment an honour for the country.
I am also very sure that our higher education minister, our prime minister and the UM vice- chancellor must be very aware of the current controversy involving Gomez yet how is it that there is absolute silence from these parties?
We must remember that our honourable higher education minister has gone on record (not so long ago) to state that he will never allow a non-bumiputera to be admitted to Mara colleges. Now is the present debacle because Gomez is not a bumiputera or is it because our Malaysian government so childish?
Perhaps our prime minister needs to interfere in order to put things right. May we hear from our prime minister please?
