Zahid invites Muslim MPs for briefing on Hadi’s bill

Mosquitobrain: You have to be a fool to believe in what Deputy Prime Minister Ahmad Zahid Hamidi is saying.

Umno is actually buying more time to please the 'patience-losing' PAS president Abdul Hadi Awang. It's a known fact, Umno will be a dead cat without PAS support in GE14.

After MO1 (Malaysian Official 1) sandiwara, it's now Zahid's turn to 'wayang' Hadi and company. One cannot understand why Hadi and gang is so 'numb-skulled' to fall prey to Umno, time and again.

Exranger: This is how Umno makes PAS believe that Umno cares and supports PAS, but there will be no concrete decision and it will just give PAS empty hope. Serves you right, PAS.

VeraCruz: Umno MPs need hudud like they need a hole in the head. Imagine a whole bunch of them having only a left arm.

Anonymous_4031c: The BN component parties who think it's a done deal that the bill will not see the light of day must be feeling betrayed with its revival again.

This ‘pancing ikan’, cold-hot relationship with PAS is important given Umno needs PAS’ support in the coming election.

After all, parties like MIC and MCA are of lesser value since they have lost support from its supporters.

Shunyata: As per instructions, Zahid is made to seal the deal with the biggest Malay force in the country and agree to their terms with no other option, for not doing so will guarantee BN's demise.

Get it done quickly, Zahid, before the boss returns from his work holiday so that he can claim, "I had nothing to do with it," while the BN component parties cry, "We were left out of the briefing."

Kangkung: Why are only Muslim MPs invited? Does it mean the hudud bill is of no concern to non-Muslim MPs?

Anonymous_1419577444: This is a sign of desperation after Bersih 5. A lot must have been happening behind the scene over the past few days.

Umno has little choice unless they court Hadi. Don't be surprise that Umno will want to push this bill through in the near future to seal the deal with Hadi.

MCA, Gerakan, MIC - they are all a bunch of useless leaders as far as Umno is concerned.

The Fog of Life: We have an Umno leadership that scores low on ethics and yet they appear willing to introduce the application of even more Islamic laws. Now, isn't that hypocrisy?

Laws won't change individual values and behaviour; that comes from within. If our leaders had truly followed Islamic values, we would be a very successful and blessed nation. Greed of power and money are not Islamic values and will ultimately destroy us.

Aussie71: If you look at some places where hudud is implemented, it doesn't apply to those in the ruling parties, just the general population.

This means that the ruling party can still do what they want and be above the law. For example, Saudi Arabia’s hudud law does not affect the royal families.

FairMind: Instead of raising the punishment limits for errant Muslims, PAS and BN should look into raising the standard of living of the poor Muslims in the country.

Hadi's motion to be tabled this week, Zahid says

Dingy: After Hadi said PAS will work with Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (PPBM) on one-to-one contest in GE14, PM Najib Razak instructed Zahid to table Hadi's private bill to win back PAS’ support.

What about Najib's promises to MCA and Gerakan that Hadi's private bill will not be tabled in Parliament?

But Najib knows that MCA and Gerakan are cabinet-post crazy and they will not leave BN or else they will lose their coveted positions.

Kawak: The tabling of Hadi's bill is a reward for PAS not participating in the Bersih 5 rally.

It is interesting to see how MCA, MIC and Gerakan, as well as BN component parties from Sarawak and Sabah, react to this latest development.

Unafraid: This is indeed a crucial test for the East Malaysian MPs.

Are they willing to sell their convictions for continued favours from their Umno masters or are they bold enough to stand up to be men and women of honour?

Are they going to hide their faces in shame because they kowtow to their Umno masters or will they walk tall because they have the courage to be true to their principles?

The eyes of all Malaysians are on them.

Odysseus: Once the bill is tabled, Umno wins. PAS is beholden to Umno. Non-Muslim MPs in BN will pretend to speak up against the bill.

Then, BN will call snap elections. This leaves PAS in no man’s land. PAS can't align itself with Pakatan Harapan, and neither BN wants PAS. If PAS will effectively split the opposition votes.

Non-Muslim candidates from BN will claim they spoke against the bill to win votes from non-Muslim voters. PAS will be annihilated in GE14.

Once PAS is neutered, Umno will conveniently forget about the bill.

Nes: Conveniently, they are tabling the bill on the last day of this parliamentary sitting so that the debate will have to be postponed to the next session.

And for now, they will squeeze every ounce of political gain from this sandiwara until after GE14.

Anubis: There is no greater evil than to hide behind race, religion, and royalty, while committing every crime humanly possible and thinking you can get away with it.
