Despite thousands of police reports made nationwide against Bersih, Pertubuhan Aduan Rakyat (PAR) Malaysians are still sceptical that the Royal Malaysian Police (PDRM) will ever take any action. We have gone through 1, 2, 3 and 4 Bersih gathering which has only brought anger, hatred and separated the citizen among one another.

We urge inspector-general of police (IGP) Khalid Abu Bakar to take severe action against anyone (red or yellow) who participates in or instigates the people to participate in this gathering without fear or favour.

This gathering is not any more about fair and clean elections which was initially mooted by Bersih. They are now gathering for some disgruntled group’s personal gain and at the end of the day the people are going to be at the losing side of whatever the outcome is.

In the past, the Bersih chairperson did not take responsibility for the damage caused during their last assembly. Therefore, it is necessary for PDRM not to allow this assembly because Bersih supporters did not behave in accordance with the law during the last gathering.

When people are gathering in large groups, it will be difficult to control them and anything could happen. If Bersih says that they are gathering for fair and clean elections then it is timely that this assembly is halted. This is so because if the election process is not fair and clean, do you think BN would have lost Selangor, Penang and Kelantan?

If the opposition says they needed the Bersih assembly for reforms and that is their democratic rights, then it’s very fair but that does not gives them the right to destroy the peace and harmony of the majority of the people in the name of democracy.

This is not the first time Bersih assembly is being held, but this is the fifth time. The opposition has taken advantage of this gathering and now we can see even Dr Mahathir Mohamad is willing to participate not just because of the people and the country but merely for his personal and son’s political gains.

Bersih through their rallies are only creating hatred and dividing the people further, which is dangerous as this could lead to riots if this is not stopped by PDRM. Furthermore, PDRM should investigate Bersih for receiving foreign funds which we believe could be to undermine and topple the government as their fight is not any more for fair and clean election.

Bersih has been going around the country to get support from the people to bring down the government and its democratically elected leader clearly goes to show that this is highly serious and detrimental which PDRM should investigate.
