PKR deputy president Azmin Ali has no comments about his former ally turned Umno defector Ezam Mohd Noor's decision to join Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu).

"Well, I have no comment, that is his personal decision that he has to make.

"I can't represent Bersatu, but I think what is required now is to mobilise all the support to face Umno and BN in the next elections," Azmin told reporters when met in Kuala Selangor last night.

On Thursday it was reported Ezam has submitted his application to join Umno splinter Bersatu.

It is however understood that Bersatu leaders would hold discussions on whether to approve his application, due in part to his criticism of party chairperson Dr Mahathir Mohamad in the past.

This is Ezam's second departure from Umno after he first quit the ruling Malay party to join PKR during its infancy.

Ezam subsequently quit PKR in 2007 due to a falling out with Azmin and PKR de facto leader Anwar Ibrahim.

He had, among others accused Anwar of being manipulated and too supportive of Azmin at 2007's PKR party polls.

Both Azmin and Ezam had been Anwar's private secretaries back when he was in the Umno-led federal government.
