Tourism Minister Mohamed Nazri Abdul Aziz said the antics by Sungai Besar Umno chief Jamal Md Yunos do not represent the party.

Nazri, who is also an Umno supreme council member, said Jamal was only one of three million Umno members.

“He is only one person, he doesn't represent Umno. We have three million members.

“It can’t be that if one member does something that upsets others, it means his mentality represents the party as a whole,” he was quoted as saying by KiniTV.

When it was pointed out that Jamal was a ranking division leader of Umno, Nazri insisted that Jamal did not represent the party.

“Sometimes we see other party members who do the same thing but we don’t say that it affects the whole party.

“He is not a leader that represents Umno’s mentality. But it is Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak or the deputy prime minister, then maybe.

“But he (Jamal) is not even an elected representative,” he said.

Nazri was responding to Jamal’s stunt yesterday where he brought the media to a toilet and flushed down the letter of demand by Bersih chairperson Maria Chin Abdullah.

Maria had demanded for Jamal’s apology or face a defamation suit after he linked Bersih to the Islamic State.
