Pakatan Harapan and Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu) will hold negotiations with PAS in order to strengthen the opposition, former opposition leader Anwar Ibrahim said.

This, Anwar revealed, was among the topics Bersatu pro-tem president Muhyiddin Yassin and he discussed during a meeting at the High Court in Kuala Lumpur this morning.

"Yes, we have agreed to negotiate with PAS," he said when quizzed on this.

Asked if PAS would be part of a new opposition pact, Anwar replied: "Negotiate first, and then we will see our mutual agreements."

Pakatan Harapan currently comprises PKR, Parti Amanah Negara (Amanah) and DAP.

PAS refused to join the opposition alliance, which was formed after the breakup of Pakatan Rakyat - a pact that consisted of PAS, PKR and DAP - last year.

PAS has instead set up its own alliance with Parti Ikatan Bangsa Malaysia (Ikatan).
