Two MCA members are likely to be sacked for openly supported the opposition at the last general election, according to a Bernama report.

This was the recommendation of the MCA central disciplinary committee, its chairperson Chan Kong Choy revealed today.

Chan who is also MCA deputy president said the matter would be forwarded to the party's presidential council soon.

He told reporters after chairing a meeting of the committee that the decision was made after going through the two cases, which was supported with concrete evidence.

Chan however refused to disclosed the names of the two members pending a decision by the party's presidential council.

He said the central disciplinary committee had so far received 23 cases from various states, divisions and branches, whereby 13 cases involved the recent MCA branch elections.

Eight cases put aside

"For cases with strong evidence, but not very serious, the committee would recommend for the presidential council to consider giving warnings to the party members concerned," he added.

Chan reminded party members to abide the code of conduct approved by the central committee that was meant for the smooth running of the party elections.
He said the committee had also decided to call for another hearing on 12 cases involving party elections, including the Jalan Young branch case, due to the fact that the allegations had some basis.

Eight other cases were put aside due to insufficient evidence, the deputy president said.
