Electoral reform group Bersih and the leader of the red shirts Jamal Md Yunos should refrain from "hurting each other's feelings" as it may lead to a riot if unabated.

"My advice is, please don't hurt other people's feelings," said Umno secretary-general Tengku Adnan Tengku Mansor today when asked to comment on opposition to the Bersih 5 rally.

"This person hurts that person's feelings and this person hurts the other person and feelings... towards the end it might become a riot, you know, so you got to be very careful," he told reporters after officiating the Enterwip 2.0 and Technofest Entrepreneurship Convention 2016 at PWTC in Kuala Lumpur today.

Jamal, who is Sungai Besar Umno division chief, previously said he would hold protests at all six locations where Bersih plans to launch their seven-week convoy leading up to the final rally on Nov 19 in Kuala Lumpur.

The Bersih 5 rally revolves around five demands: clean elections, clean government, strengthening of the parliamentary democracy, right to dissent and empowerment of Sabah and Sarawak.

Tengku Adnan, who is also the Federal Territories Minister, said that he hoped both parties could be sensible and work things out as Malaysians must preserve the harmony and unity within the country.

When asked about Jamal's allegations that Bersih has been infiltrated by the Islamic State (IS), he said it was up to the police to investigate whether there was any truth to his claims.

"That one is his (Jamal's) accusation. I hope the police can check whatever he has said," he said.

He also warned all to be careful about the country's security, saying there might be quarters who wished to destroy the nation out of jealousy.

Jamal has said he received information from a trusted source that Bersih has been infiltrated by the IS and that the coalition for free and fair elections planned to lay siege to major airports and Putrajaya in order to topple the government on Nov 19.

Bersih has denied these allegations and said that they are mulling legal action over this issue.
