I refer to two of your reports dated April 1 and April 5 on the proposed interfaith commission.

Prof Shad S Faruqi made a claim that his views were disregarded at the conference. So he decided to take it to the press. It is terribly unfortunate for Faruqi to now unearth these concerns when he should have stood his ground at the conference and argue his points as any good lawyer should.

Obviously Faruqi was not able to convince the conference of his views, don't you think?

I am not quite sure if John Gurusamy, who spoke in his personal capacity and not as a member of the Interfaith Network, is actually telling us that we need to wait for 350 years to iron out our differences.

He said that "if the Church took 350 years before it can apologise for its condemnation of Galileo, I can understand the position of Muslims".

As a Muslim, I do not need Gurusamy's understanding. Further, are Muslims so obtuse that we need at least 350 years to think through difficult issues in this era of globalisation? If that is the case, I need to be saved, but not by the likes of these two speakers. Thank you very much.
