Negotiations between water company Syarikat Pengeluar Air Selangor Sdn Bhd (Splash) and the Selangor government will conclude in October, Selangor Menteri Besar Azmin Ali said.

"Negotiations to take over Splash by Air Selangor is ongoing, in accordance with the timeframe set in the main agreement.

"The main agreement states that Air Selangor has one year from the signing date, that is until October 2016, to resolve the Splash takeover issue," he told the Selangor state legislative assembly in Shah Alam today.

He was replying to a question from Sulaiman Abdul Razak (BN-Permatang) who sought an update on the latest status of negotiations with Splash.

Azmin said both sides were reviewing various matters with the objective of ensuring that the takeover would not burden the people.

Talks will also continue with the federal government to ensure Pengurusan Aset Air Bhd (PAAB) is able to fund the takeover process.

In November, Azmin said the government has tied up takeover negotiations with the three other concessionaires – Syarikat Bekalan Air Selangor (Syabas), Konsortium Abbas Sdn Bhd (Abbas) and Puncak Niaga Holding Bhd (PNHB).

Splash had earlier rejected the state government's RM250 million offer.

The other three concessionaires accepted a package of RM1.68 billion - RM1.07 billion for PNHB, Syabas (RM520,000) and Abbas (RM90 million).
