Umno man defends demo at DAP HQ, says it’s to ‘teach’ Nga

Falcon: A posting done is no licence to run amok with threats, which has become the hallmark of Umno. More so, when the identity of the maker of the posting is still being disputed.

And respect is a two-way street which needs to be earned and not by threats, bullying, and sheer political might.

Yes, Malaysia is a polarised society where the minorities feel insecure by the acts and omissions of those expected to act - and act without fear or favour - when our houses of faith are repeatedly threatened, our race and religion ridiculed, when dissent is responded with hate and seditious utterances, and worse, when we articulate tenets of the Federal Constitution, the death sentence is pronounced.

And the so-called leaders and statesmen who claim they are moderate stay silent while screaming condemnations against similar happenings on foreign soil.

Let's learn to stop the doubles speak, the emotional terrorism and hypocrisy first, and respect will follow.

Odin Tajué: Whether Taiping MP Nga Kor Ming has or has not uploaded the allegedly insulting Facebook postings is not my concern.

My concern is that when you are present among persons who not only possess the mental capacity of village idiots but are also racial and religious bigots, you need to be very careful of what you say or do. Or else you'll get a reaction such as is seen here.

Jaycee: Well, this what we mean by "monkey see, monkey do". When the elders behave like thugs, the youths will behave in the same manner. Why then are we surprised?

Fairnsquare: Indeed, violence or threats of such by some people shows immaturity and a total lack of mental ability to react intelligently.

And if leaders have such mentality, they will only encourage mob justice. These actions only expose the inherent stupidity of certain politicians.

Dizzer: Malay dignity and sensitivity, indeed! When will these Umno men start to encourage their supporters to use their brains rather than their 'feelings'?

Malays are not born stupid; they are deliberately made stupid by their religious and political leaders. I say this as someone who is from a Malay family where everyone is smarter than me.

Drngsc: DAP does not need anyone to teach them any lesson, especially gangsters and samsengs, supported by leaders who barely pass their exams and some with only SPM qualification.

We only ask that everyone obey the law. If releasing yellow balloon is offensive, then what about shouting, threatening, throwing ‘hell money’ and littering?

Jasper: So Cheras Umno division leader Syed Ali Alhabshee is condoning mob vigilante action?

Then Umno might as well act to repeal all laws, disband the Royal Malaysian Police (PDRM) and dismantle the judicial system.

Anybody who has been offended can just take to the streets and assault the offender.

Kim Quek: Sarawak Report has, through a series of six articles, published tons of evidence that explained the US$7 billion found to be missing by the auditor-general since it laid its hand on the 1MDB audit report a week ago.

In stark contrast, inspector-general police (IGP) Khalid Abu Bakar is still talking about asking the attorney-general whether the audit report exposed by Sarawak Report is genuine – after more than three months of criminal investigations into the Public Accounts Committee (PAC) report which was based on the auditor-general’s report on 1MDB.

What has PDRM being doing all this time – sleeping? Khalid should tender his resignation for such horrible dereliction of duty, if there is still a shred of dignity left in him.

FellowMalaysian: It is incomprehensible that Khalid and PDRM plead ignorance over their pussy-footing into their investigation on 1MDB when the PAC report was handed to them more than three months ago.

And what a disingenuous and feckless stand to take by claiming that they did not have a copy of the audit report.

1MDB's colossal misappropriation of public funds has caused the country and its people a huge amount of embarrassment and shame, and the most rightful and lawful thing the police should do is to expeditiously carry out their investigations into the claims made by the two reports.

It is damning and mortifyingly embarrassing that when billions have been known to be unaccounted for, the owner of 1MDB, i.e. the Finance Ministry, together with the regulatory and enforcement bodies such as PDRM have so far failed to identify or charge anyone of wrongdoings.

FairMind: The Official Secrets Act (OSA) is being used to prevent a proper investigation into 1MDB. The PDRM and other authorities, too, are allegedly helping to purposely delay the investigation of 1MDB and its related companies.

Under the Malaysian Companies Act 1967, a company is only obliged to keep its accounting records for seven years after these transactions arose.

After seven years, a company can legally destroy all its accounting records and all future investigations may be scuttled on the fact that these companies no longer have these records.

This seven-year deadline is approaching fast.
