Analysts: Malaysia may face more IS attacks

Paul Warren: It is not the hardcore poor who are potential recruits in Malaysia. They are everywhere, mostly in the universities and who have had a dose of National Civics Bureau (Biro Tatanegara or BTN) indoctrination.

Additionally, the fear and hate indoctrinated in them provides the perfect ingredients for what is to come.

Officially sanctioned by remarks and statements made by muftis and backed by or protected by Umno and PAS leaders, the mix is getting potent. It’s just a matter of time.

Negarawan: The concern is that certain parties will create disturbances in the name of Islamic State (IS) to distract the rakyat's attention from the growing 1MDB scandal.

For now, corruption among government leaders is a much larger problem than terrorism in Malaysia.

Cogito Ergo Sum: I agree with Negarawan. Diversion of attention is the best move when the momentum is against you.

I really wonder if IS is really attacking Malaysia, given that Malaysians are really moderate and relatively non-aggressive by nature.

The tacit encouragement given to demagogues who ridicule and insult the beliefs and practices of non-Muslims is the key that will open our country to the kind of chaos that is destroying Iraq.

I fear that the Puchong grenade attack is the harbinger of more carnage to come.

Jbsuara: The inspector-general of police (IGP) and some officers are seen as biased in carrying out their duties where they are keener to investigate and arrest opposition leaders and activists rather than investing time and energy focusing on arresting real criminals.

Instead, we have instances where only ministers and some leaders are heavily guarded at times, whereas citizens are left with confusing advice without any clear and prompt directive/s from the top police officers.

Worldly Wise: Police must infiltrate Islamic groups to identify radical elements. The government must stop competing with PAS to show that it is holier than it is.

Falcon: Basically, many things done in the past and present in the shadows are coming back to hurt us big time.

We still have a choice to come clean, change and be accommodating, rather than pushing failed supremacist and apartheid ideologies, but will we?

US embassy cautions citizens in M'sia, after Puchong blast

Legit: The Royal Malaysian Police (PDRM) are very busy catching WhatsApp users, opposition politicians and social activists.

So their attention is not on the crimes happening in the country, let alone safeguarding the country from IS terrorists.

In fact, the Malaysian government leaders are cavorting with controversial preachers like Zakir Naik.

So not only US citizens but also nationals of every other country and also the local citizens better be on guard and take care of themselves without depending on the police.

Cogito Ergo Sum: Please add to the advisory note that we are being targeted in reaction to a schoolboy challenge to IS terrorists to return home and face the consequences.

Fair&Just: The embassy can also advise that to get the authorities’ attention, go mingle with famous opposition leaders and they will be watched by the police.

IGP denies police issued IS alert message

Roger 5201: We have imposter police advising a church not to host a buka puasa for security reasons, do we now have an imposter Special Branch which issues IS alerts on behalf of the Malaysian government?

Isn't this the Special Branch that allegedly took RM12 million in Abu Sayyaf ransom but paid RM8.8 million to the latter, then deny ever receiving the money?

Why is IGP neither interested to know nor keen to investigate these cases?

Do they not want to know the source, and arrest and charge the person if it is sent in malice, and that there is no threat?

And if there is truth in it, are the police not going to deploy more personnel to protect these areas and the patrons?
