Will Amanah survive twin by-elections?

Amanah, take heart, with PAS daily oozing out lies, it is just a matter of time before their true colours are exposed, and they will plunge into the abyss.

Umno is tainted with the 1MDB scandal and fully engaged in alleged corruption that only the blind and 'honey suckers' do not see.

Anonymous S303: A reasonably educated analysis by writer P Gunasegaram. Amanah is definitely going to be a sacrificial lamb if it doesn't win any of these seats and the victor is still Umno even if they lose this election.

Umno had effectively split the opposition votes in the middle and has endeared itself for a quick GE, probably by the middle of next year.

Watch Out: If you want Amanah to win, don't do all these analyses at such an early stage to allow the opponent time to find ways to rectify the problems.

Now BN will go all out to reduce the Chinese votes. PAS will also probably tell their supporters (discreetly) to vote for BN to stop Amanah from winning.

Wong Fei Hoong: I will say that the Chinese being smart voters will give BN their votes for now in exchange for development in their area since there will not be any changes in the federal government.

But it will be a different story come the 14th general election (GE14). Pakatan Harapan should not be disheartened even if they lose these two by-elections, but it will have to get its act together at the next GE.

As for PAS, they are a dead duck.

If they do that, it reinforces the perception that the current crop of leaders has no integrity and consistency.

If they are smart, they should secretly support the Amanah candidate to win in order to send a signal to Umno that Chinese votes do matter.

Sans Blinkers: BN will win in three-cornered fights is the conventional wisdom in this country. Generally, people refuse to think out of the box. Many things have changed in this country.

Umno itself has several factions and those not in the inner circle and those ‘not in personal benefit’ are not necessarily firmly supporting Umno. In short, Umno is not a solid entity.

In spite of getting rid of the moderate faction, which is now Amanah, PAS is by no means united because there is still a less conservative faction in PAS that is pro-PAS as a political organisation because of long-time membership and affinity, but who are not in favour of the Abdul Hadi Awang-ulama leadership.

Analysts keep stressing the conflicts within PKR and within Pakatan but these conflicts are no worse than those in PAS and Umno, only they are being magnified because of BN-controlled media machinery.

Jesse: All signs point to BN winning again, thanks to money flowing like confetti, solid Malay voters to continue Malay supremacy and complicity of MCA, MIC and Gerakan allegedly sucking up to Najib.

Never mind the grand corruption, suppression of human rights and the humiliation of the rakyat.

Quigonbond: Umno and PAS really misjudged how hudud works. It'll backfire on them.

Timloo: Quigonbond, Umno’s strategy is far superior. Basically, Umno is trying to split the opposition’s support. The end result would be its total destruction.

Hence, it's extremely silly to suggest that Umno want PAS to win one of the by-election seats.

N1: May the one with integrity wins the election. Corrupt politicians, extremists and racists should be purged from the political arena if we want a better future for this country.

Kuasa Rakyat: All Sungai Besar and Kuala Kangsar voters should vote for Amanah and send a strong message to Umno.

Voting for Amanah will also send a strong message to PAS, which under Hadi has condoned and supported Umno and Najib in their actions. PAS has practically become Umno 2.0 under Hadi.

Falcon: More importantly, the two by-elections will show if certain BN component political parties are still relevant, are indeed effective, and potent in this age and time or they have outlived their lifespan, and therefore they are only parasites and should close shop?
