MUKTAMAR After PAS cut ties with DAP during last year’s muktamar, its Muslimat wing has now proposed considering severing ties with PKR as well.

According to Bernama, Kedah Muslimat PAS made the proposal at the wing’s muktamar yesterday to review cooperation with PKR.

The motion was accepted without debate.

Muslimat PAS vice-chief Salamiah Mohd Noor, who revealed the motion, said it will be brought to the PAS syura council for further action.

In the motion, it said PKR did not appear to respect PAS by cooperating with its splinter Parti Amanah Negara.

It added PKR did not respect PAS’ opinion when it initiated the Kajang Move in 2014 and subsequent attempt to oust then Selangor menteri besar Khalid Ibrahim.

“Even though there are a handful of PKR leaders who respect PAS’ stance and views, the issues before this show the party (PKR) is more comfortable making decisions without discussing or consulting its partners.

“This is despite PKR relying on PAS to mobilise its machinery during elections.

“Seeing that of late, PAS is seen to be acting alone and with independence in resolving political issues, therefore it would be better that we contest in all seats without cooperation from other parties in future elections,” said the motion, according to Bernama.

Salamiah in a press conference later said the motion was also a result of PKR clashing with PAS in certain seats during the Sarawak election on May 7.

She said the motion will be submitted to the syura council after the Sungai Besar and Kuala Kangsar by-elections on June 18.
