Guan Eng wants Harapan to close ranks, address voter disappointment

SusahKes: Well, let's put it this way Lim Guan Eng, fairness did not win the elections; heavy-handed tactics did. On that, you can sleep soundly a bit. But so did Pakatan Harapan's failure to avoid three-cornered fights. The impact of that, I assure you, will find its way into peninsula politics. Do not think it is an insulated outcome.

I just hope you and Pakatan Harapan can re-build; there's a lot of heat is going to still come out, from the 1MDB, etc. Though let me add, I ain't too sure about PKR deputy president Azmin Ali & co.

Headhunter: The opposition needs to pull their socks up. They know that they were up against a formidable foe who will not hesitate to play dirty to win at all costs. And yet, they openly quarreled among themselves for months before the election and right up to the very end.

This, in spite of many supporters who explicitly expressed their disappointment and begging them to sort out their problem quickly, but those stubborn idiots in both parties were not willing to sort out their problem due to overblown egos. Well, who's sorry now?

Fairplayer: With alleged foul play and ‘election bribes’ ravaging and flooding the constituencies of the BN winners, there is little dignity left for Umno/BN to shout about the victory. The only great winners are the 10 opposition winners who did not use foul tactics.

Worldly Wise: Party Amanah Negara must canvass those within PAS to come and join them. Alternatively they must persuade their friends in PAS to condemn the mismanagement that took place in 1MDB. They must also condemn ethnic discrimination. They must tell them that if they do so, Amanah will disband and rejoin PAS.

Anonymous 2404851458004878: As a Sarawakian myself, I was appalled at the number of people being rejected entry into Sarawak during this election campaign period - especially the people from opposition parties from West Malaysia. In contrast, the BN ministers all came in full force into Sarawak for campaigning, allegedly using government resources and all blatantly (aside from blatant money politics and using people with bad backgrounds as representatives).

I was more of a fence-sitter this round because of Adenan Satem, but this unfairness really causes me to think twice.

The Analyser: Better that Harapan close its doors... full stop. Closing ranks will only perpetuate the stupidity that was Pakatan Harapan in the first place. Is this man Guan Eng so full of himself and his political strategies that he has completely lost touch with reality?

Anonymous_1421406986: DAP must accept sole ownership for the divide simmering within the opposition coalition. First, in a direct manner with PAS and now indirectly with PKR. So long we have DAP leaders behaving as demigods, there can never be unity in the opposition coalition.

I believe the parties have reached a point where they dare not trust the hand of friendship of another party. For nothing lasts.

Until today the opposition has not decided on how it is going lead the country if it ever takes over. They do not have a blueprint at all. For heaven’s sake stop hurting the Malays in Malay-based political parties. Malaysians gave the opposition an opportunity in the last general election (GE). I am beginning to wonder if they will dare do the same in the next GE. At this rate,the outcome will be the same as in Sarawak.

KO: Guan Eng and Azmin need to step back and let the Amanah guys head the opposition to BN. Both of them are polarising and divisive. For the common good of the nation, in spite of their respective sacrifices, they can't and should not lead the opposition to BN. They will continue to divide and disunite the people. About time to stop pussy-footing and chart a clear strategy on the way forward. This country and its people deserve better.

Dr Suresh Kumar: Even an elementary school child can tell you that, when you are faced with a formidable force you need to pull out all the stops to face the onslaught. But the Pakatan Harapan's squabbles reached such an insane level that they have subtly proved that the 'rakyat' is not their priority. Such abysmal ignorance can never be justified at all.

The more the opposition fellows try to justify their utter failure, the more they are taking the rakyat for fools. Basically these fellas are flipping the bird at the rakyat. You deserve the people you vote for.

Anticonmen: Guan Eng, Pakatan did not lose because of any disunity between yourselves but because of alleged gerrymandering, cheating, stuffed votes, fictitious voters, uniformed forces’ votes, bribing, abuse of government machinery, timber mafia, stolen money, false promises and denial of rights to opposition leaders. Against all the odds, Pakatan still did well. The real losers are the poor Sarawak people.

Awang Top: Pakatan Harapan has not lost. This is a wake-up call to strategise and win GE14. You lost the war but not the battle. Fight on, especially DAP. Be brave and fight on.

Discovery: Guan Eng, the solution is very simple. No need to go do a PhD to ascertain what has gone wrong in Sarawak and how to mitigate the wrongs. Just stop fighting among yourselves, stop behaving like small children, show a united front and keep PAS out of Pakatan Harapan. Do it and I guarantee you, winning GE14 is within your reach. Otherwise we will give up on you people for good.
