Truth as belief and its ramifications
I would like to refer to Chai Sen Tyng's Call to examine Quran a severe error in response to 'Secular values' an oxymoron by Mohd Elfie Nieshaem Juferi pertaining to 'absolute truth' and 'facts' of life.
We are in physical existence to learn and understand that our energy translated into feelings, thoughts and emotions, causes all experience. There are no exceptions. Once this is understood, we must learn to examine our beliefs as this will automatically cause you to feel and think in certain fashions. Our emotions follow our beliefs, not the other way around.
We must realise that any idea we accept as truth is a belief that we hold. The most hampering belief of all is the idea that the clues to current human behaviour and problems are buried and inaccessible. The answers are always there in our conscious minds.
Let's examine our invincible and core beliefs strong ideas about our existence; the way we build our life. Some examples may be that 'human nature is inherently evil', 'my life is worthless', 'relationships are pointless'.
Once understood to be false, other subsidiary and offshoot beliefs will fall away. Distinguishing between the facts of life and the beliefs of life is a daunting task for many.
We must learn to disregard all beliefs that imply basic limitations, as there are no limitations to the self. Some beliefs originated in childhood, but we are not at their mercy unless we believe we are. Because our imaginations follow our beliefs, we can find ourselves in viscous circles in which we constantly paint pictures in our mind that reinforce 'negative' aspects in our life
Imaginative events generate appropriate emotions and the resulting hormonal changes in the body affect our behaviour with others or cause us to interpret events always in the light of our beliefs. And so daily experience will seem to justify what we believe more and more.
The only way out is to become aware of our beliefs and our own conscious thoughts and to change our beliefs so that we can bring them more in line with the kind of reality we want to experience.
Imaginations and emotions are our great allies and will automatically come into play to reinforce the these new beliefs.
