DAP veteran Lim Kit Siang did not mince words with regard to his response on the new opposition bloc comprising PAS and Parti Ikatan Bangsa Malaysia (Ikatan).

"Is that a third-force?" he shot back when the question was posed during a press conference in Kuala Lumpur this morning.

"In politics, zero plus zero is equal to zero. You can quote me on that," he added.

Met later, Lim, however, refused further comments, adding that he "does not want to say unkind things."

PAS is expected to sign the memorandum of understanding with Ikatan president Kadir Sheikh Fadzir at a press conference this afternoon.

Kadir, a former Umno minister, had first set-up his party in June, 2012, ahead of the 13th general election.

Following a fallout between DAP and PAS, a new opposition coalition was formed with the name Pakatan Harapan.

The new coalition consists of DAP, PKR and PAS splinter Parti Amanah Negara (Amanah).

Last week, PAS secretary-general Takiyuddin Hassan announced that the Islamic party will join hands with a multiracial party to provide Malaysians with a third alternative.
