I would even work with Najib to save M'sia, says Kit Siang
DAP supremo, who has been under severe fire this week for appearing alongside his arch-nemesis former prime minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad, said he is even prepared to work with premier Najib Razak if that was what it took to save the nation.
"I am prepared to work with any Malaysian to Save Malaysia, not only Mahathir and (former deputy prime minister) Muhyiddin Yassin, but even with Najib," said Lim in a statement today.
This, he said, was if the prime minister is prepared to "admit that he had led the country on a wrong tangent" and admit that "far-reaching democratic and institutional reforms" were necessary to do so.
He said the Citizen's Declaration calling for Najib's resignation, which he signed last Friday together with Umno rebels including Mahathir, was only a first step in a long road tp recovery.

"It is the greatest naivety for anyone to think that there are those among the 45 signatories of the Citizen's Declaration to Save Malaysia who believed that the day after the signing [...] that Najib Razak would be removed as prime minister.
"The road to fundamental political changes in Malaysia is a long and arduous one, with the Citizen's Declaration on March 4 (being) only the first step," said Lim.
Uncharted waters
Lim said the country was in "uncharted political waters" and that all the challenges that follow signing of the declaration can only be taken "one step at a time".
However, he said the signatories are fully aware that leadership change must be accompanied by democratic and institutional changes "or the country would be back to square one".
Lim explained the unprecedented coming together of political arch enemies as necessary saying, "In the sixth decade of nationhood, Malaysia is very sick in all sectors of human endeavour," and a move he had been advocating since last year.
However, he cautioned that the new movement must not be an "opportunistic get-together but must be based on a programme of principles and the national interests".
"The Citizen's Declaration to Save Malaysia must not be an opportunistic document but must be the forerunner of a programme for democratic and institutional reforms to make Malaysia great again where all Malaysians, regardless of race, religion, region or politics could again feel proud to be a Malaysian citizen," said Lim.
