PAS president Abdul Hadi Awang said the Islamic party will not become embroiled in the attempt to dislodge Terengganu Menteri Besar Ahmad Razif Abdul Rahman.

He said this in response to former menteri besar Ahmad Said tabling a motion of no confidence against his successor in the state assembly yesterday.

"PAS will not get involved.

"We will not get involved, and we look at whether it (no-confidence motion) is reasonable and not an issue of struggling for position," he told journalists when met at the Parliament lobby.

Abdul Hadi, who is Marang MP, also sits in the Terengganu state assembly as the Ru Rendang state assemblyperson.

Ahmad's motion, however, was rejected by the speaker on grounds that a notice was required.

Asked if Hadi agreed with Ahmad's move, the PAS president said it was an Umno matter.

"It is up to Umno, they are the majority," he said.

At present, Umno controls 17 seats in the 32-member state assembly.

The remaining seats comprise of 14 PAS representatives and one from PKR.
