Selangor Menteri Besar Azmin Ali today said that the relationship between DAP and PKR was solid and was focused on ousting Umno and BN in the coming national polls.

He said this when asked to comment on Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng's decision to appoint an outsider to replace PKR Kebun Bunga assemblyman Cheah Kah Peng as a director of the Penang Hill Corporation.

Cheah, together with Bukit Tengah assemblyman Ong Chin Wen, were sacked from their directors post on the GLC after they had reportedly reneged on their decision to vote against an Umno motion to halt reclamation projects in Penang.

"I leave it to the wisdom of the CM and the state government to decide on the matter.

"This is not something that can disrupt the unity in Pakatan Harapan because it is not a policy or ideological clash," Azmin told reporters after attending a Chinese New Year do in Machang Bubok, Penang today.

Asked how could the relationship be solid when Lim had reportedly ignored PKR's appeal latter on the duo's sacking Azmin said: "I did not send a personal letter".

"The matter can be resolved amicably through proper meetings and discussions between PKR and the state government," he added.

Asked what kind of discussion he had in mind when Lim had appointed DAP national organising secretary and Seremban MP Anthony Loke to replace Cheah, Azmin said he was still positive that the matter could be resolved.

The Chinese dailies had reported that Loke had confirmed his appointment but had yet to receive his official letter.

"We have gone through many trials and tribulations over the years as members of the opposition pact but with understanding and wisdom of our parties' leaderships, we can resolve this issue," Azmin reiterated.

Asked if he were saying this as he was earlier accused by Lim as interfering in the latter's administration in Penang, Azmin denied this was so.

'I don't want to fight'

Lim had before this expressed his surprise when Azmin said the PKR stood by its two reps and that Lim should not have removed the duo.

"I am not interfering in state policies but as PKR deputy president I am just conveying my party's political bureau stand on the issue," Azmin said.

Later as Azmin was leaving the event, he said "I don't want to fight.

"If we can even work together with former premier Dr Mahathir Mohamad (to oust Prime Minister Najib Razak), why not Guan Eng?"

Azmin said he will be meeting Lim at the opening of the parliamentary session in Kuala Lumpur tomorrow to discuss the matter.

"We always hold a presidential council meeting in Parliament after the session," he said.
