The Selangor Youth Council (MBS) must help BN win back Selangor if it wants state government assistance again, said Deputy Prime Minister Ahmad Zahid Hamidi.

"If you want state government allocations again, if MBS wants to be officially recognised again, make sure you win back the Selangor government," Zahid stressed.

Speaking at the 32nd MBS annual meeting in Shah Alam today, the deputy premier said youths make up 40 percent of the electorate.

"(The) voting power is with the youths," he pointed out.

Selangor BN chief Noh Omar and MBS president Irmohizan Ibrahim earlier claimed that the youth council had been sidelined by the opposition-led state government in favour of their own youth club.

Noh cited last year's Youth Day celebrations in Selangor as an example of how the state government had discriminated against MBS.

"At 4am, we were told to change venues because we had set up tents on state land," Noh said in his speech.

He urged MBS to be patient, and that all would be better if BN recaptured Selangor in the next general election.

About 1,000 youths had attended today's annual meeting, with about 200 delegates from secondary school associations such as the scouts and girl guides.
