Education Minister Mahdzir Khalid said the ministry will probe claims that former deputy prime minister Muhyiddin Yassin was barred from speaking at an event held at a school in Subang Jaya, Selangor last weekend.

Mahdzir said the ministry will also investigate if the school, Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan USJ4, had played host to the sacked DPM.

The ministry will conduct checks on the Youth Football League event organised by an NGO on the school grounds.

But there are claims that the school barred Muhyiddin from speaking. We will investigate this and question the school and the organisers,” he said in a statement on his Facebook page today.

Muhyiddin on Sunday said he was informed that the school received instructions not to allow him to speak at the event.

However, the event's organisers - the Subang Jaya Community Sports Club - said it had not invited Muhyiddin to launch the league and that the Umno deputy president was there as a personal guest of one of the attendees.

The club added that Muhyiddin was not listed as one of the speakers for the event and that the school was just providing a venue for the soccer matches which are held every weekend.
