The Kedah Immigration Department has denied two Uzbek citizens and a Thai national from entering the country via the Immigration, Customs, Quarantine and Security (ICQS) complex at Bukit Kayu Hitam, last night.

Its director Mohamad Yusri Hashim said upon checks by Immigrations offiicals at about 10pm last night the two Uzbek men, aged 20 and 24 years, were trying to obtain new social visit passes to prolong their stay in the country.

He said further checks found that the 24-year-old was studying at a higher learning institution in the capital and had used his expired student pass to enter the country.

“"Kuala Lumpur Immigration has also issued a special pass for his 20-year-old friend to leave the country. They left Malaysia for Thailand on Jan 20,” he said in a statement today.

Mohamad Yusri added that a Thai male, aged 31, was also refused entry to Malaysia because he had violated his social visit pass.

He said after investigation it was found that the man had overstayed and was working in the country while here on social visit.
