An Umno group opposed to party president Najib Abdul Razak, has threatened to burn the party's constitution if no action is taken against Kedah Umno members who rebelled against Menteri Besar Mukhriz Mahathir.

"We will hold a huge protest and burn the Umno constitution (because Umno) toyed with it. You take action against some, but don't take action against others," Gabungan Ketua Cawangan Malaysia (GKCM) deputy president Mohd Zin Mustapa said.

GKCM is made up of Teluk Kemang Umno members, who had six branch leaders suspended for rebelling against Najib.

"We want the same action to be taken against those who criticised Mukhriz as menteri besar," Mohd Zin told reporters at the Putra World Trade Centre lobby today.

The group had sent a memorandum to Umno disciplinary board chairperson Tengku Ahmad Rithauddeen to press for their demands.

They had sent a similar letter to Umno secretary-general Tengku Adnan Tengku Mansor yesterday.

Tengku Adnan has said that no action would be taken against the 14 Kedah Umno leaders, including state deputy chief Ahmad Badshah Md Hanipah, for holding the press conference denouncing Mukhriz on Wednesday.
