Umno Gopeng Wanita chief Hamidah Osman finds the party’s decision to sack her yesterday, confounding.

“It’s strange. But never mind. I will hold a press conference this Friday,” he told Malaysiakini .

Umno president Najib Abdul Razak yesterday announced that Hamidah is sacked from the party for breaching party discipline.

Hamidah, who is also Wanita Umno information chief, said she was never informed of her sacking, and only learnt of it through the media.

“I know nothing,” she said.

She was issued a show-cause letter for welcoming former prime minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad at the Subang Airport.

She has also vocally criticised Najib, urging him to resign after RM2.6 billion was found in his bank accounts.

The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission is investigating the matter, while Najib denies any wrongdoing.
