As residents and voters in Bandar Cheras, we would like to commend Abdul Khalid Ibrahim on his daring decision to vote in support of the federal Budget yesterday.

“My constituents (in Bandar Tun Razak) voted for me to do the right thing so I am doing the right thing, from my perspective. I don’t mind meeting up with my voters and claim that what I did was right,” Khalid was quoted as saying .

We are also glad that he has offered to meet his voters to explain why he voted as he did and we would like to take him up on his offer.

The Bandar Tun Razak MP has not visited his constituents for a long time. In fact, he has not visited any of us since May 2013 when he campaigned to represent the residents here once more.

He promised us many things then, and he did so as a potential Selangor menteri besar. Surely such an important man that would wield so much power would deserve a second chance, especially after he told us he would not approve the Sungai Besi-Ulu Kelang Elevated Expressway (SUKE).

This is the guy that came to support our rally against SUKE back in 2012.

Except that the Budget also comes with approval for all the highways including SUKE. He forgets that his vote puts all the homes in at least 12 residential areas under his constituency in jeopardy, not just from land acquisition but also from pollution and property devaluation.

So please tell the residents of Bandar Cheras when you are available to meet us for this ‘explanation session’ and we will set up the tents and rent the chairs. We have sent your office a request for you to meet your voters. Just give us a date and we will set up the tents and chairs. You don’t have to do anything other than to make yourself available to face all of us.

And please do make yourself available within the next month or so. If you are going to be too busy to meet us, then please do not bother to meet us come the next general election.
