As an ordinary Malaysian with an average knowledge of US politics, what an utter disappointment it was for me to see George W Bush get re-elected to another four-year term in office.

The only consolation I get from this fact is in knowing that this man who is responsible for so many of the wrong things going on in the world today - including the loss of innocent lives in Iraq - will never be able to run for the White House again because of the two-term limit for US presidents.

Not only is Bush out there today, but the latest US election exercise has made him and his party stronger than they were before.

Also, the choices that Americans had in both Bush and John Kerry were lousy - akin to what one would find at a typical fast food join like McDonalds or KFC.

Bush, for instance, was dead against abortion. But he was against gay marriages as well which doesn't speak much about his respect for human and sexual rights.

Kerry, though Roman Catholic, was reportedly open to the idea of gay marriages but alas, he was all out to promote the unethical research into stem cell technology if he came to power.

Despite this, I had to think of the lesser evil and hoped that the world would be made a little safer again with John Kerry as the new American president.

But alas, Bush is back in office now and the world is firmly under his grip and control. Woe to the world. Woe to us all.
