Local celebrity Sabri Yunus and writer Sutung Umar RS have questioned the "disappearance" of Mingguan Malaysia editor Ku Seman Ku Hussain's column in the newspaper yesterday.

 

Ku Seman's "Sunday Anecdote" column, which has always graced page 7 of the Umno-owned newspaper, was replaced with an article by law analyst Salleh Buang titled ‘Operation Catch and Extradite Clare Brown’ yesterday.

 

"Feels like Mingguan Malaysia has left out a page today (yesterday). Or maybe I dropped it on the road.

 

"I flipped the newspaper so many times looking for the (Sunday) Anecdote column. Clearly there isn't one this week," Sabri said in a Facebook post.

Previously, in his article titled  "RM2.6 billion donation and Umno's Integrity", Ku Seman had questioned the party's integrity in explaining the truth with the RM2.6 billion "donation" received by Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak.

 

He had also challenged Communications and Multimedia Minister Salleh Said Keruak and Special Affairs Department (Jasa) director Puad Zarkashi to debate on the "donation" issue.

 

Following that article, Utusan was admonished by the party for questioning the political funds deposited into Najib's account.

 

Meanwhile, Sutung ( photo ) also questioned if the "disappearance" of Ku Seman's column had to do with interference by certain cabinet ministers.

 

"Suddenly, Ku Seman's column has disappeared. Why? Which minister is interfering with a reporter's job?" Sutung asked in his Facebook posting.

 

Malaysiakini is currently trying to get Ku Seman's comment on this matter.

 

Meanwhile, on Twitter, former minister Zainuddin Maidin said that Ku Seman's column was got rid off, as had happened to other editors.

 

"Before Ku Seman's MM ( Mingguan Malaysia ) column was got rid of, Zaini Hassan's ‘Cuit’ (column) also suffered the same fate, but it is not certain if this would not happen with DAP or Anwar in power.

 

"10 years as Utusan chief editor, I never threw a column away in the middle of the night. It only happens in an undemocratic country. No sleep at night (for) the Utusan chief editor," Zainuddin had said.
