DAP national publicity secretary Tony Pua said Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak should be investigated under Section 124B of the Penal Code for accepting RM2.6 billion of foreign funding.
He said the act could be deemed as an activity detrimental to parliamentary democracy.
"The person who should be investigated for activity detrimental to democracy is Najib. Why? Because his minister of tourism (Nazri Abdul Aziz) admitted that the RM2.6 billion were accepted from a brotherly nation, brotherly country from Middle East which wants a certain party to win in the general elections.
"We have political parties that won the elections in May 2013 with foreign funding? Does that not mean Najib compromised as an agent of a foreign country?
"With the RM2.6 billion from a foreign country, Najib won the election and now we suffer under him," he told a 3,000-strong crowd at the DAP fundraising dinner in Petaling Jaya last night.
Pua ( photo ), the Petaling Jaya Utara MP, created a furore of laughter from the audience as he was dressed in a typical prison garb, complete with the hat.
Remove Najib to improve ringgit
His sentiment was shared by another speaker, PKR secretary-general Rafizi Ramli, who claimed that the plummeting ringgit could be saved just by removing Najib because of the bad perception on the country.
"The bad perception can only be attributed to two people, one is prettier than the other," he joked, referring to Najib and his wife Rosmah Mansor ( photo ).
"Mahathir and Muhyiddin for the first time agreed with me. Remove these two and our currency will get better," Rafizi added.
He was referring to former premier Dr Mahathir Mohamad and Muhyiddin Yassin who was recently dropped in a cabinet reshuffle.
Rafizi said it is all purely the problem of perception and what the market feels.
The dinner yesterday proved to be a success with all the tables sold out.
It was also held to promote Bersih 4 rally slated on Aug and 30, and managed to collect more than RM100,000 in donations.
Meanwhile, Pua announced the name for the new coalition between DAP, PKR and Gerakan Harapan Baru (GHB) as Pakatan Harapan, following the dead of Pakatan Rakyat few months ago.
