Terengganu forms cyber troopers unit
The Terengganu Domestic Trade, Cooperatives and Consumerism office has formed a counselling unit and cyber troopers in an effort to reach out to the community and counter negative perception that had been hurled at the ministry.
Terengganu office deputy director Md Nawawi Ab Rahman said the two roles were being played by the 11 branch heads, heads of section and the existing enforcement officers, since Aug 1.
“They would immediately fend off accusations leveled by irresponsible parties so that consumers will not be confused by the false news spread on the social media.
“In fact, we have also taken steps to neutralise these cyber attackers and as a result they have become our allies, now that they have been given the true picture,” he told reporters at an Aidilfitri gathering in Kuala Terengganu today.
The move was in line with the objectives of the ministry, in approaching the public to make them comfortable and willing to cooperate with the ministry for the benefit of all parties, he said.
So far, he added that the Terengganu office had been quick to respond to complaints and in taking action against errant traders and consumers had been advised to use the proper channels to lodge their complaints.
