Now that the transfer of two senior Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) officers have been revoked, PKR hoped progress would be made in clarifying the alleged charge sheet involving the prime minister.

"We must establish whether the charge sheet against the prime minister really exists and is really legitimate," said Lembah Pantai MP and PKR vice-president Nurul Izzah Anwar.

She was speaking during the birthday celebration outside Sungai Buloh prison in honour of her father, jailed former opposition leader Anwar Ibrahim.

Nurul Izzah said with the reinstatement of the two officers, questions regarding the charge sheet could be clarified.

"The questions (surrounding it) have not been answered.

"I feel at this point, when the officers have resumed their posts in MACC, there is a real need and justification for pressure to be applied for the charging (of found offender/s) to be made and pushed forward," said the MP.

"I think when we talk about a case involving the prime minister himself, we want statements from the government that are prompt, consistent, and up to date," she added.

MACC officers - special operations division director Bahri Mohamad Zin and strategic communications director Rohaizad Yaakob - who were suddenly transferred to the Prime Minister's Department last Friday were to report to their new desks today.

However the national outrage that erupted over the weekend appears to have led to the orders being cancelled today, after chief secretary Ali Hamsa accepted the duo's explanations for their media statements related to the 1MDB fiasco.

Not enough to revoke transfers

The transfers were part of a series of actions against officers involved in investigating allegations against debt-ridden 1MDB, including raids and arrests.

One of the reasons that the police had given for the raids was the alleged leak of a draft charge sheet for Prime Minister Najib Razak, that the government had curiously denied as not genuine.

Nurul Izzah said it was not enough that the government has made right the situation, but that the 1MDB probe must be continued with full professionalism.

"To me (the revocation of transfers) is the result of pressure from society, (various) leaders, and the public.

"Therefore cancelling the transfers is not enough. We still want the investigations to continue," said PKR vice president Nurul Izzah Anwar.

"We want the MACC to be given full authority and full professionalism and independence to continue their investigations," said Nurul Izzah.
