The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission's (MACC) investigation on the former 1MDB subsidiary SRC International Sdn Bhd will proceed as normal, said its deputy commissioner (prevention) Mustafar Ali.

He confirmed that its two directors who were transferred to the Prime Minister's Department last week would return to their former positions.

"The work and investigation will continue as normal - with the directors still in place - and MACC's independent, transparent, and professional work will proceed as normal," he told reporters when met outside the MACC headquarters in Putrajaya today.

 

Also seen at the headquarters earlier today were the two newly reinstated officers, MACC special operations division director Bahri Mohamad Zin and strategic communications director Rohaizad Yaakob ( photo ).

 

However, Bahri declined to speak to the media, while Rohaizad would only brief reporters on the happenings at MACC and would not comment on his reinstatement.

 

The duo were transferred to the Prime Minister’s Department on Friday last week and were originally due to start work there today.

 

Bahri had been leading the MACC investigation, and was vocal in criticising the police arrests and raids against his officers under Section 124B of the Penal Code over an alleged leak of details from the investigation.

 

Meanwhile, Rohaizad is believed to have irked Putrajaya after receiving a delegation of opposition leaders at the MACC headquarters, who were there to show support .

 

In a statement earlier today, government chief secretary Ali Hamsa said the duo were reinstated after giving explanations on the media statements that they had issued.
