Newly-appointed Deputy Home Minister Nur Jazlan Mohamed has refused to comment on the Public Accounts Committee (PAC), citing separation of powers.

The former PAC chairperson said he is now in the executive branch while the committee is within the ambit of the legislature.

"I cannot comment on PAC matters as it is under Parliament while I am a deputy minister under the executive.

"I reiterate that as a member of the executive, I cannot comment on any matters under Parliament," he told a press conference after a working visit to Bukit Aman today.

Nur Jazlan was asked to comment on Dewan Rakyat Speaker Pandikar Amin Mulia's move to suspend the PAC until the next Parliament sitting.

Pandikar ( photo ) said the PAC can only proceed after a new chairperson is appointed following Nur Jazlan's departure.

Nur Jazlan was asked about this no less than four times but was adamant about not weighing into the matter.

To a question whether he is disappointed with the postponement of PAC’s proceedings, Nur Jazlan said it is up to the new chairperson and committee.

He also declined to comment on the RM2.6 billion donation that was transferred into Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak’s account.

“It is not my place to comment. I am a member of the executive and I am bounded by my responsibilities,” he said.
