There is confusion as to whether Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) investigators probing claims that RM2.6 billion was deposited into Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak’s bank accounts were arrested by police.

This was after inspector-general of police Khalid Abu Bakar rebutted MACC sources claiming that two of its investigator were arrested, stating that the MACC officers only had their statements recorded.

But Khalid’s rebuttal was met with yet another rebuttal from MACC deputy chief commissioner Mustafar Ali, who insisted his officers were arrested by police.

“Two MACC officers involved in the SRC International investigation were asked to present themselves at Putrajaya district police headquarters this evening.

Both of them were then arrested. Their rooms at the (MACC) special operations division as well as their homes were raided by police.

“Their laptops were also confiscated by police,” said Mustar in a statement tonight.

Earlier, a MACC source claimed that the two, including the officer assigned to probe the SRC International case, were arrested in Putrajaya.

It is understood that MACC Special Operations number three Roslan Che Amat was the other person zeroed in the by the police.

Prior to this, Roslan was quizzed by the police on Monday.

Police are investigation MACC officers in connection with leaks of 1MDB investigation documents and information.

Police have classified the case under Section 124B of the Penal Code for activities detrimental to parliamentary democracy.

Besides Roslan and the IO, police have already quizzed five other officers which saw a move that began in early Saturday morning at 1am with the arrest of a MACC DPP Ahmad Sazalee Abdul Khairi.

This was followed with three other officers were quizzed on Monday, including MACC special operations director Bahri Mohamad Zin, forensics director IG Chandran and MACC's Special Operations Department officer Roslan Che Amat.

MACC chief commissioner Abu Kasim Mohamed and his deputy chief Mohd Shukri Abdull are currently on leave.
