After purging his critics from the cabinet, Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak has now been urged to also crack down on his enemies.

Negri Sembilan Menteri Besar Mohamad Hasan said this today, saying using the law against detractors is only right if they are trying to topple a democratically-elected leader.

"Don't let the worms get into your eyes, you could be blinded.

"I don't want my president to be blind," he said in a speech at the Seremban Umno annual general assembly today.

In his fiery speech in Seremban, Mohamad Hasan also lamented about the repealed laws that were previously used to crack down on dissent.

"When there is no EO (Emergency Ordinance) or ISA (Internal Security Act), that is your challenge. People said don't throw away your weapons," he said.

On Tuesday, Najib removed Umno deputy president Muhyiddin Yassin as deputy prime minister and Umno vice president as Rural and Regional Development Minister in a cabinet reshuffle.

Both leaders had been critical of Najib's handling of 1MDB.

Najib is facing allegations that RM2.6 billion was deposited into his private bank accounts.

The prime minister had denied taking any government funds for personal gain.

A special task force is investigating the claim but the fate of the probe is now uncertain after attorney-general Abdul Gani Patail was sacked .

The special task force comprises the police, Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission, Bank Negara and coordinated by the Attorney-General's Chambers.

The task force investigators have also been accused of trying to overthrow the government, prompting Minister in the Prime Minister's Department Paul Low to defend its members.
