National carmaker Proton Holdings on Sunday unveiled the Satria R3, a 1.8 litre car that is designed for purists who want high performance.
The car is the first to be produced by Proton's Motosports Division under the brand of Race Rally Research (R3) and only 150 will be built.
It sells for about RM73,000 and orders can be submitted later this month.
"The Satria R3 is a car built out of pure driving passion," said Proton Motosports head of special projects, Adian Yein Khalid, in a statement.
"It is designed from the outset to be a accessible driver's car. In short, it's a road-legal track car," he said, adding that "from every angle, it portrays speed, motion, energy and audacity."
The car is the first produced by Proton that uses a carbon fibre roof spoiler. Carbon fibre is also used for the gear knob and the spark plug cover on the 1834cc four-cylinder double overhead camshaft.
