Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak is destroying the legacy left by his father, Abdul Razak Hussein, by appointing the wrong person to lead Felda, opined former premier Dr Mahathir Mohamad.

Anak chairperson Mazlan Aliman relayed this to Malaysiakini , after meeting Mahathir today.

"Mahathir questioned why Najib appointed an individual with a record of misconduct as Felda chairperson.

"He said Abdul Razak (former PM) had worked hard to develop Felda, but Najib is doing the opposite," Mazlan said.

Mahathir was referring to Najib's decision to appoint Isa Samad as Felda's boss, despite Isa being suspended from Umno for three years in 2005 on seven charges of money politics in the party's 2004 elections.

Mazlan said Mahathir also questioned why Felda Global Ventures wasted money buying hotels, factories, and investing overseas, when there are investment opportunities in Malaysia.

“Mahathir said they bought assets at an expensive price for personal gain,” Mazlan wrote on Facebook.

“He also said the investments (by FGV) are made overseas, so it will only benefit outsiders, not us,” he added.

Mazlan and 13 other Anak representatives had met with Mahathir at the Perdana Leadership Foundation office in Putrajaya today, to discuss several matters including Felda, FGV, 1MDB, and the Goods and Services Tax

During their hour-long meeting, Mahathir also repeated his sentiment that Najib should quit office before things get worse for the country.

Mahathir is currently on the warpath to oust Najib from power, citing among others 1MDB’s burgeoning debts

Najib in turn, has accused the former premier of masterminding recent allegations that almost US$700 million had been deposited into his private accounts.
