Malaysian police want to question former PetroSaudi International employee Xavier Justo, presently held in Thailand on blackmail allegations.

Inspector-general of police (IGP) Khalid Abu Bakar said he has relayed this request to Thai police, and will be discussing the matter further in bilateral talks on July 2.

"I have made a request for us to be given space to question Justo ( photo ) before action is taken against him.

"On July 2, the Thai deputy police chief will be here so we will discuss what the next step to take with Justo is," he told reporters at Bukit Aman today.

However he did not elaborate why Malaysian police wanted to question Justo.

Possible extradition of suspects

The government has claimed that Justo tampered with emails allegedly stolen from his company, to paint debt-ridden 1MDB and PetroSaudi business partner in bad light.

When asked if Malaysia would request for Justo to be extradited here, the IGP replied: "We'll think about it."

He also said Thailand had not yet requested the extradition of any Malaysian suspects, and that this would be discussed during the July 2 meeting.

Home Minister Ahmad Zahid Hamidi ( photo ) has warned The Edge and Sarawak Report that it would extradite those who used the emails leaked by Justo to facilitate the Thai probe.
