Dr Mahathir Mohamad has been on a rampage against Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak, calling for the latter to resign.

However, for Malaysian actress Rozita Che Wan, what the former premier says is for the good of the country.

Speaking to Malaysiakini , Rozita said she is an ardent supporter of Mahathir, who has sacrificed and done much for Malaysia.

"(He raised Malaysia) from a nobody, to become world renowned, this is a remarkable achievement.

"This can be observed whenever I go overseas, whenever they ask about Malaysia they will surely talk about Mahathir. This makes me proud of him," she said.

"I will always be with and support Mahathir in his struggles," she added, noting that she followed the nation's political developments closely.

Rozita, who is better known as Che Ta, is one of several Malaysian artistes who have openly voiced their support for Mahathir. Another notable diva supporting the former premier is Siti Nurhaliza.

Rozita's husband Zain Saidin however sympathises with Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak.

"Najib became prime minister in a difficult era, the age of technology. He has to be careful with his every step, because even a small matter will be questioned by the people," he said.

However, the 'Oh My English' star added Mahathir has a right to ask questions which the people want answers to.

"It is not wrong for Mahathir to ask questions for the people.

"The role he plays is like that of an elected representative. When he asks something, the people have a right to know (the answer)," Zain said.
