Some delegates were not able to vote in the election for the Umno Wanita, Youth and Puteri wings because they only arrived in Kuala Lumpur this morning.

A group of 40 Puteri delegates from a Perak division were unable to register when they approached the staff manning the registration desk today.

Asked why they only arrived this morning, when registrations were carried out yesterday, she said: "I do not know. We were told to come today."

She claimed to have seen many delegates from other divisions arriving this morning.

According to staff, registration for the three wings was completed yesterday because the elections were to be conducted this morning.

"At this point in time, nothing can be done because the officers and representatives of the movements are involved in the polling (for the exco positions)," one said.

The posts of head and deputy head of the three movements were declared without contest following the conclusion of divisional meetings last July.

Rafidah Aziz and Shahrizat Abdul Jalil won the posts of Wanita head and deputy head respectively.

Hishammuddin Hussein retained his post as Youth head, with Khairy Jamaluddin winning the deputy's post uncontested.

In the Puteri wing, Noraini Ahmad was picked without contest to replace Azalina Othman as head, while Rosnah Abd Rashid Shirlin won the deputy's post uncontested as well.

Azalina is contesting a seat on the Supreme Council.
