Not a sen for PM as 1MDB advisory board chair

Odin Tajué: That PM Najib Razak has not got a sen for being the chairperson of 1MDB advisory board is completely irrelevant.

 

What is relevant is the fact that he has messed up the company so badly that it has incurred billions in debt - billions owed that will ultimately be paid by ordinary, already-much-suffering Malaysians.

 

Odysseus: Indeed, the issue is not about how much he makes from being the advisory board chairperson.

 

It's about how much money unaccounted for while he is the advisory board chairperson, finance minister and prime minister.

 

Anonymous #97893788: It does not matter if he receive gratuity or not, he is still my servant. He has failed to protect the interests of all Malaysians. All 1MDB investments allegedly must get his approval so he is directly responsible.

 

In fact, there is many questions yet to be answered. Unless he explains in detail how and where the money has gone, we will continue to assume that he is hiding from possible malpractices in managing the funds.

 

Shadow Fiend: Former PM Dr Mahathir Mohamad once clarified that he, as adviser to Petronas, did not advise at all, least of all to the government.

 

Once in a while, he had a briefing from Hassan Marican, then CEO of Petronas. He also got the company’s annual report, which is available to the public.

 

He said his main job was that of a postman. He passed on to Hassan numerous requests and proposals which people sent to him. He had absolutely no say in the decisions made by Petronas.

 

He had an office at the Petronas Towers and he was paid an allowance of RM15,000 per month, less RM5,000 in income tax.

 

Mahathir even said, “It would be a pity if politics is brought into the management of Petronas.” Times have indeed changed.

 

BH Yap: I also don't mind not being paid a sen if I am appointed the advisor with sweeping authority. Get my drift?

 

Pahatian: They always say, “In this world there is no such thing as a free lunch.” This will set your mind thinking that it works in other mysterious and covert ways.

 

 

Mahathir snubs PM, just wants to see 1MDB funds

 

Kingfisher: It seems rather simplistic to suggest a four-eyed meeting between Najib and Mahathir to resolve what is perceived by many as a fundamental accountability problem in national governance.

 

Many perceptive Malaysians who are striving hard to earn a decent living may be left wandering if such suggestions are symptomatic of entrenched value preferences that considers prerogatives as a right in itself without obligations.

 

All openly functioning democracies never encourage the growth of incipient fledgling of mafiosi-type ethics among those elected to hold public office.

           

Mushiro: Mahathir said that the land bought by Lembaga Tabung Haji (from 1MDB) has been sold to some Indonesians at a loss. But Najib and Tabung Haji chairperson Azeez Abdul Rahim said just last month that Tabung Haji made a small profit.

 

So is Najib lying again? Najib seem to be making use of the rakyat's money through Tabung Haji, EPF (Employee Provident Fund), LTAT (Lembaga Tabung Angkatan Tentera), KWAP (Kumpulan Wang Amanah Pencen), etc, to bail out 1MDB.

 

If what Mahathir said was true that Tabung Haji lost money, then Azeez and the board of Tabung Haji should be sacked.

'Scuffle created to let Najib escape dialogue'

Common Good of Society: The public is not surprised by this ‘sandiwara’. It’s always there as a reason to close down an event or to claim it as a threat to national security.

 

I am equally surprised that Dr M recognised it easily as a ‘sandiwara’. Now Dr M, did you created such ‘sandiwara’ when you were the PM then?

 

Stevie G: It will be an ugly situation for the PM if on the day of the dialogue, Najib is attack by pro-Mahathir supporters.

 

Even though this situation never happen, it could happen, just like the time Mahathir was attacked by an Umno member using pepper spray many years ago when Pak Lah (Abdullah Ahmad Badawi) was PM.

 

Mafeeah: With the heaviest police escort, including the UTK (Special Action Unit), how can you claim that you are under security threat?

 

IGP (inspector-general of police), why make a fool of the PM? Didn't he appoint you to the post and expected you to do a good job for the money he pays you out of the rakyat's contribution?

 

Why repay him with such a pathetic show of stupidity?

 

Justine Gow: Since this army veteran (Mohd Ali Baharom aka Ali Tinju) is in the news, I wonder if anyone remembers what Najib did when he took up the defence minister’s post.

 

I could remember clearly because a certain thought crossed my mind when I read news on what he did. Well, he provided the army with four "high quality" meals per day.

 

I was thinking, "Wow, he is going to fatten up the people in the army so much so that they cannot fight the enemy," and I did wonder at that time what sort of PM he would be if he ever became one. Now we know.
