Selangor DAP chief Tony Pua today urged Menteri Besar Azmin Ali to choose which party PKR wants to cooperate with to rule the state, given that PAS had cut ties with DAP.

Concurring with PAS information chief Mahfuz Omar's call for Azmin to choose between PAS and DAP as PKR's ruling partner in Selangor, Pua said: "I agree."

"PAS wants Azmin to choose which party he want, DAP shares the same view. So, we leave it for Azmin to decide.

"DAP will talk with Azmin. We will see what is his position," the Petaling Jaya Utara MP told reporters at the Parliament lobby.

However, Pua ( photo ) did not rule out the possibility of Azmin dissolving the state assembly in the event of a hung legislative assembly.

Currently, PAS and DAP have 15 seats each while PKR has 13, excluding independent assemblyperson and former menteri besar Abdul Khalid Ibrahim who was sacked. Meanwhile, Umno has 12 seats.

State government may fall

Pakatan's break-up in Selangor will not only witness the alliance losing its two-third majority, but worse, the fall of the state government.

"To call for a fresh poll is the worst scenario. Both Azmin and I don't want to see it happening this way," Pua said.

He added that it is unlikely all the three parties will meet to discuss on their cooperation in the state government.

"How do you expect the three parties to sit down and discuss when only two parties are able to talk," Pua said, adding that a meeting has yet to be fixed.

This, however should not drag on, he said, as it would harm Pakatan's chances of being re-elected as the ruling government in the next general elections.

"In Selangor, there can never be business as usual," Pua added.

The DAP national publicity secretary also ruled out the possibility of reconciling with PAS.

"How do you want us to reconcile? Unless PAS holds another muktamar and retract its resolution to cut ties with DAP," Pua added.
