Penang PAS ulama delegate Mohd Hanif Harun today urged the Islamic party's syura council and central working committee to look into the political cooperation or tahaluf with their allies in Pakatan Rakyat.

He said both bodies, being the highest authority in PAS, should find out all the pros and cons of their ties with Pakatan partners in view of PKR and DAP not respecting the party's stand, especially on hudud.

As an example, the delegate cited the boycott by Permatang Pauh PAS Youth of the by-election there last month after PKR Youth wing refused to apologise publicly for attacking party president Abdul Hadi Awang.

"Even if we have to be together to defeat BN, we have to respect and understand (each other's) principles.

"Before this, PAS has spent a lot of energy (for the elections). This is PAS' power. PAS have to show izzah (might) to face takabur (haughty) allies.

"If one of six rules (of tahaluf siyasi ) is not adhered, how?" he asked when debating PAS ulama's chief policy speech in Gombak today.

Action against those not loyal

Hanif also lambasted some leaders in PAS who are more "loyal" to other party leaders than to Abdul Hadi on the issue of hudud, and called for action against them.

"There are leaders who do not agree with what PAS wanted. It could be seen as trying to worsen the understanding of PAS' principles.

"Take action against such leaders who condemn the president. Leaders like this sits in the party but are walak (give loyalty) to others," he said.
