Muhyiddin Yassin was not present at last Friday’s cabinet meeting where ministers critical of 1MDB were reportedly slapped with an  ultimatum .

According to an aide of the deputy prime minister, Muhyiddin is currently on leave.

“His last assignment was on May 26 (last Tuesday). He has been on leave since then and is currently overseas,” the aide told Malaysiakini .

He said Muhyiddin would be returning tomorrow.

Leaked video clip

The latest incident being a video clip of his speech, which was leaked just before Najib announced the 11th Malaysia Plan.

In the video, Muhyiddin, when addressing Umno members at a closed-door event in Johor, called for the 1MDB directors to be sacked and investigated.

He also lamented that no action was taken when he told Najib about this.

Apart from Muhyiddin, Rural and Regional Development Minister Shafie Apdal ( photo ) has also been critical of the 1MDB.

Meanwhile, Culture and Tourism Minister Mohd Nazri Abdul Aziz confirmed that Muhyiddin was not present at the cabinet meeting.

Nazri told Malaysiakini that Home Minister Ahmad Zahid Hamidi was also absent.

However, Nazri denied that Najib had issued an ultimatum to the cabinet members present

He said the prime minister merely said he would understand if ministers who disagreed with the 1MDB issue put in their resignation letters.
