Ruffled by DAP wanting to move forward the shadow cabinet idea – minus their Pakatan partners – PAS president Abdul Hadi Awang says his party is willing to severe ties with its Pakatan partner.

Calling the party arrogant and the plan ‘unrealistic’, the PAS chief was quoted in AstroAwani.com as saying the shadow cabinet has to consider various issues in the federal constitution and not set it up just to benefit a specific group.

Hadi said this to reporters after Friday prayers at a mosque in Marang, said the portal.

“If they (DAP) want to cut off ties, let them. I have to have my feet planted firmly on Malaysian soil; this nation has a multi-ethnic society.

“There are already assembly halls, plenty of non-Muslim NGOs,” Hadi said, according to the news website.

When asked to comment on DAP secretary-general Lim Guan Eng who was said to envision DAP will forge ahead without their Pakatan partners on the shadow cabinet issue, Hadi reminded DAP not to be arrogant, the portal reported.

Hadi was quoted saying DAP is not the only party to represent non-Muslims in Malaysia.

The portal reported Lim having expressed this in response to the idea mooted by Opposition Leader and PKR president Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail.

According to AstroAwani.com , the Penang chief minister also claimed that the shadow cabinet plan was bound to fail, given Hadi’s refusal to cooperate and his veto power over the Islamic party.

DAP made a decision to cease engaging with the PAS leader, months after Hadi's no-show at meetings between Pakatan's top leaders and him overturning decisions agreed upon by PAS representatives.

The relationship between DAP and the PAS president is further soured by the secular party's staunch stand against the implementation of hudud championed by Hadi.
