Police have recorded statements from DAP leader Lim Kit Siang for a second time over allegedly seditious remarks made in an article on the late Teoh Beng Hock.

The police had first recorded his statement on the matter on Aug 4 last year.

According to Lim's lawyer Gobind Singh Deo, the DAP stalwart's statements were recorded at the DAP headquarters in Petaling Jaya today as part of a "follow-up investigation".

"The police informed us they have received instructions to ask (Lim) a few more questions so they can complete their investigations.

"So far the Attorney-General Chambers has not made any decision whether to take action on Lim," said Gobind.

Lim's article, entitled 'Malaysians will not rest until justice is done for the killing of Teoh Beng Hock', was published on the party's website The Rocket last July.

Following this, Inspector-General of Police Khalid Abu Bakar said the article was deemed seditious as Lim was implying that Teoh was murdered.

'Go after crooks, not critics'

Teoh was found dead on the fifth floor landing at Plaza Masalam, Shah Alam a day after he was detained overnight by the Selangor Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission which is housed on the 14th floor of the building.

In September last year, the Court of Appeal overturned a Royal Commission of Inquiry's finding that Teoh had died as a result of suicide.

Gobind told Malaysiakini that police should focus on finding the perpetrators rather than probing those seeking answers on Teoh's death.

"The police should tell us what has come of their investigations into the concern expressed by the Court of Appeal in their judgement.

"It is clear that the Court of Appeal had mentioned there was basis for further investigation but we have not been told about the status of the police investigation and we do not see anybody being charged for Teoh's death.

"That should be given priority instead of looking at how action should be taken against those who want justice done in Teoh's case," he said.
