PKR president Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail rarely goes to Kajang, where she is the state representative.

Would she therefore have the time to be in Permatang Pauh, for the needs of the people there as well?

Deputy Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin asked this in a press conference in Permatang Pauh today, at which he said he believes the people rather want an MP who would be there on a full-time basis.

"You can ask the people here. Do they want a representative who also has to take care of Kajang, and only comes here once a month?" Muhyiddin ( left ) asked.

As for Wan Azizah's statement that she had the help of Selangor Menteri Besar Azmin Ali in the administration of Kajang, Muhyiddin said it was better if she had not contested there.

"If Azmin is the one taking care of Kajang, that means there is no state representative.

"While campaigning during the Kajang by-election, they (PKR) said they want to solve all sorts of problems, such as the floods.

Why contest here?

"Even that is a big responsibility. Furthermore she is a Pakatan Rakyat leader. If she can't even juggle all those things, why contest here?" he asked.

However, while admitting that Wan Azizah had the right to contest in the Permatang Pauh by-election, Muhyiddin pondered whether Wan Azizah would spend more time in Permatang Pauh to solve problems such as floods, economical and development issues, should the voters ask.

"Of course she would say 'yes'. But can she, really? Because it's impossible for her to have enough time.

"If (Umno candidate) Suhaimi (Sabudin) is here, I would tell him to stay here on a full-time basis," he said.

This is Wan Azizah's four move to become the MP for Permatang Pauh, with her first and second times in 1999, 2004 and in the 2008 by-election, respectively, besides.

Wan Azizah was thrust into the battle to keepthe parliamentary seat of her husband, PKR de facto leader Anwar Ibrahim, after her family failed to obtain a pardon from the Yang di-Pertuan Agong to seek his early release from prison.
