Ku Nan: Nothing behind 'alone, not alone' remarks
Umno Secretary-General Tengku Adnan Tengku Mansor today insisted that all is well between Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak and his deputy Muhyiddin Yassin.
"It's okay-lah, nothing is wrong between my president and deputy president," he told Malaysiakini when contacted.
Najib and Muhyiddin are also Umno president and deputy president respectively.
This comes amid the intrigue involving both leaders following former prime minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad speeches and blog postings attacking Najib and his governance.
Mahathir who has been relentlessly demanding Najib to step down had in a blog posting admitted that he was alone in his struggle.
Muhyiddin then raised eyebrows on Sunday at a public event when he said Mahathir was "not alone" in telling the truth.
Najib at a major investment conference yesterday then declared the turn out at the event proved he was not alone.
Tengku Adnan ( pix, above ) said people were reading too much into this and insisted Muhyiddin was not taking a jibe at Najib.
Words twisted
"That one has been blown out of context because he (Muhyiddin) was talking about war.
Muhyiddin had delivered speech at an anti-war forum which was attended by Mahathir.
"You are not alone in telling the truth," Muhyiddin had said to Mahathir.
"Telling the truth and standing up... this is your trademark since you were a young doctor and Umno member,” added the DPM.
"You know, the people who tweet that (it means) he (Mahathir) is not alone (against Najib), well, these are the people who like to twist words," said Tengku Adnan.
